meet LAURA

I remember that time in my life,  but only parts of it…  Two pregnancies, two premature babies. First my son, tiny and fragile in the ICU. I remember the visits to the hospital, holding him next to me, the fraught first days at home. Then, a few years later, the story repeated itself with my daughter. Visits to the ICU, her little body in the incubator. At the time I thought it would last forever; the smallness, the worry, the long nights. But just like that my babies grew up.

How I wish I had photographs of those moments, but at the time it didn’t occur to me to keep a visual record of them. We often rely on memory for so much and we forget that it is a delicate and inaccurate thing. We live our routines day in and day out without noticing that life is made up of these small, seemingly unimportant moments but as time goes by, we long for them.

Today I am a Documentary Family Photographer based in Mexico City who loves to take pictures of exactly that: life just as it is. I want to give people the opportunity to have these keepsakes in a way that I couldn’t, to have a record of the intimacy of their relationships, to find magic in the simplicity of their life and, above all, I want to tell their story in a beautiful way.
